Welcome

Sometimes the ways we respond to stress, relationships, or difficult experiences make more sense when we understand what they developed in response to.

At Black Hills Trauma Therapy, therapy is a collaborative space to better understand those patterns, address experiences that may still feel unresolved, and develop new ways of responding in the present.

I provide trauma-informed, attachment-focused therapy for adults, integrating EMDR, parts-oriented work, and other approaches based on your individual needs and goals

Support tailored to what you’re experiencing.

Therapy is individualized to your needs, experiences, and goals. We can focus on what is affecting you now while also exploring the experiences and patterns that may be contributing to it.

When understanding what happened isn’t enough to change how it still feels.

Sometimes you can understand an experience logically and still notice that your emotions, body, or reactions respond as though the experience is still happening.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured psychotherapy approach designed to help the brain process experiences that may remain emotionally distressing or continue to influence how you respond in the present.

Treatment is individualized and includes preparation, resourcing, and collaborative planning before moving into deeper processing.

You might be here because…

  • Something happened in the past, but it still feels present.

  • You understand your patterns, but changing them has been harder.

  • Anxiety, overwhelm, or low mood keep getting in the way.

  • Relationships bring up fears of rejection, abandonment, or not being enough.

  • You find yourself constantly on alert, shutting down, or feeling disconnected.

  • Chronic pain or changes in your health have affected more than just your body.

  • Military experiences or the transition to civilian life continue to affect you.

  • You’re going through a major change and don't quite feel like yourself.

  • You’ve spent a long time coping and are ready to understand what is underneath it.

You don't have to know exactly what needs to change before beginning therapy

What You Can Expect

A Collaborative Approach
You are an active participant in therapy. We will work together to identify goals, understand what is getting in the way, and adjust the approach as your needs change.

Trauma-Informed Care
Therapy is paced thoughtfully, with attention to safety, preparation, and your ability to stay present with the work. Processing does not have to happen before you are ready.

You don't have to arrive knowing exactly where to begin. We can figure that out together.

More Than Symptom Management
While coping skills can be important, therapy can also explore the experiences, beliefs, patterns, and protective responses that may be underneath what you are experiencing now.
